The Thread: Monthly Yoga Sutra Discussion

with Tamar Samir

The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali is a classical text on the philosophy and practice of Yoga. The word “sutra” means “thread” in Sanskrit. The text is composed of these threads, or verses, which weave together the knowledge and wisdom of yoga.

In this monthly class, we’ll read, translate, chant, and discuss the sutra in thematic clusters, in order to understand its original meaning and contemplate its relevance to our lives as contemporary yoga practitioners.

Recommended texts:
(These are optional—a text selection and chant sheet will be provided each month).
